Meet our music instructor.

Kevin has been gigging with bands for 15 years.
Starting on bass, he quickly expanded to cover the 6-string range of guitar, developing a style similar to bossa-nova. Over his career he has been exposed to a plenitude of musical genres to work in: Classic Rock/Pop, Country/Bluegrass, Punk/Metal, Experimental/”Math-rock” After a year in a house band for an “open jam” night, he not only picked up new songs and adapted quickly, but found the most joy in supporting other musicians first times taking the stage. This simple opportunity became the foundation of his role as a music instructor. To inspire and fuel the excitement in others is his goal. Working with his passion makes his lessons naturally fun as well as productive.
Mike McDonough

Mike McDonough has a musical background rich in drums, hand percussion, piano, guitar, and has been actively involved in bands for over 15 years. Throughout the years, he has become fluent in many different styles including rock, jazz, funk and latin. His unique, hands-on and experiential approach to teaching has proven to be very effective with his students. He regularly leads the Divine Shakti Arts Sacred Drum Circles, records music, and performs at various venues by-coastally. His passion for music and expression shines through brilliantly in his lessons and classes.

Our son Hunter has been taking drum lessons with Mike McDonough for about 3 ½ years now. We thought starting at such a young age would be a challenge for any teacher. Mike’s calm demeanor and creative approach consistently kept Hunter engaged and excited to learn, play, and have fun. Mike has shared his amazing talent with Hunter on so many levels. Hunter’s love of music is certainly fueled by Mike’s passion and dedication.
